Sophomore first baseman/catcher Melissa Herman hit .400, as the Huskies went 2-3 in their final week of the regular season. She recorded six hits and four RBI (which were one shy of the team leader) and one home run. Her long ball was a three-run shot that put the Huskies ahead of Lamar, 3-1, in the top of the sixth. Herman, who hit .325 on the season, with 37 hits, seven doubles, two homers, and 36 RBI, was named Southland Third Team All-Conference, as she hit .342, with 25 hits, five doubles, one homer, and 21 RBI in conference play. It is the second-straight season Herman has been awarded with a postseason honor, as she was named Great West First Team All-Conference as a freshman last season.
