Schafer pitched back-to-back complete games last week, going 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA, seven strikeouts and no walks. In Sunday's win over UT-Arlington, Schafer allowed one run on five hits and struck out four. He faced the minimum 18 batters through six innings, and after the Huskies took a 15-1 lead, he struck out the side in the eighth to invoke the run rule. In Tuesday's loss at No. 18 Texas, Schafer allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out three while throwing only 78 pitches. He held the Longhorns scoreless through six innings, but couldn't get the offensive support. On the season, Schafer is 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA in three appearances with 10 strikeouts and just three walks.
