MGOLF: Huskies Head to Arkansas for Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate

The Huskies return to Jonesboro for the first time since 2020 with Caton and Dickman making their senior debut.

JONESBORO, Arkansas – The Huskies return to the 28th annual Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State at RidgePoint Country Club. The 6,565-yard, par 72, RidgePoint Country Club provides a championship style course with firm and fast tiff eagle greens and tight doglegs guarded by water and hill sloping fairways. The 54-hole tournament will commence with 36-holes of play on Monday and the final round of 18-holes on Tuesday. HCU last played in the tournament in 2020 finishing tied for 9th place.

The Huskies are coming off an 11th place finish at the Zach Johnson Invitational where Cooper New and Brooks Pawlak led the team with T-47 place finishes. Pawlak leads the team with a pair of top-50 finishes recording a stroke average of 74.33 including a team low round of five-under par, 67, in the second round of the Wildcat Invitational. New leads this week's lineup with a 75.16 stroke average including a one-under par, 71, in the second round of the Wildcat Invitational.

Mason Napier is making his second appearance of the season after finishing tied for 78th at the Wildcat Invitational posting rounds of 78, 78, and 83.

Graduate student, Ben Caton, is making his debut for the Huskies this week after competing in six tournaments for the Huskies last season. Caton recorded a season best 36th place finish at the Big Texan last year and fired a team season low four-under par, 68, in the opening round of the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational. The Scotland native tallied four rounds of even-par or better during the 2022-2023 campaign and finished the year with a 77.88 scoring average.

Oliver Dickman rounds out the Husky lineup also making his senior debut for HCU after competing in four tournaments for the Huskies last year. Dickman carded a season-low two-under par, 70, at the 2022 Wildcat Invitational and finished the season with an 81.25 scoring average.

The 12-team field consists of host Arkansas State, HCU, Oklahoma Christian, Kansas City, Belmont, Jacksonville State, Murray State, New Orleans, Southeastern Louisiana, Evansville, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Incarnate Word.

The Huskies will tee off at 8 a.m. starting on holes 9 through 12 playing alongside New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana. Live stats are available via Golfstat.com.
