Caiti Wenger led the Huskies with 15 kills Saturday afternoon in their fall to Incarnate Word 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 21-25, 23-25) in Sharp Gym.
Freshman outside hitter
Jessica Wooten helped HBU (7-11, 2-4 SLC) with 11 kills and 11 digs. Junior middle blocker
Madeline Gaffney contributed with 10 kills. Junior libero
Haley Hoffman led the Huskies with 14 digs. Freshman setter
Kayla Armer had a match-high of 38 assists for HBU, along with 10 digs. Freshman defensive specialist
Beth Shecterle also had 10 digs for the Huskies.
Shaina Garza recorded 16 kills and 14 digs for the Cardinals. Angelique Vidaurri had 15 kills for Incarnate Word, while teammate Brittani Dear had 10 kills along with her match-high of 21 digs. Danielle Suarez had 30 assists, while Taylor McClelland had 13 assists. Suarez also recorded 10 digs for the Cardinals. Sarah Cardenas had 12 digs for Incarnate Word.
The Huskies were outblocked by the Cardinals 7 blocks to 6. Incarnate Word outdug HBU 68-64. The Cardinals outhit the Huskies 60-49.
The Huskies return to action away for the next two games. They will play at Southeastern Louisiana Thursday, October 10 at 7 p.m. They then travel to play New Orleans on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m.
