Raquel Tidwell Figueroa was a two-year letterwinner and captain for the HBU women’s cross country and track and field teams. The Katy, Texas, native led the Huskies in every cross country competition she entered in her two seasons and finished 13th at the 2009 Great West Conference Championships to earn all-conference honors. On the track, Tidwell-Figueroa was a multiple-time all-conference finisher in distances between 800 and 3,000 meters. At the 2009 Great West Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, she won a pair of gold medals, recording a personal best in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.9 and setting the school record, which still stands, in the 1,500 meters at 4:33.33. She actively mentored younger student-athletes at HBU athletically, academically and spiritually, was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and graduate with a bachelor of science in education with a 4.0 GPA.
