Simonsen was a three-year letterwinner at HBU, earning All-Trans America Athletic Conference honors in 1988. That season, he finished as the conference runner-up to teammate Paul Devenport, helping the Huskies win back-to-back TAAC titles in 1988 and 1989. This year, the Denmark native qualified for both the U.S. Open and the Senior Open Championship at St. Andrews. Simonsen is the head professional at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
