Skelly played for the women's golf team from 1975-78. She finished 19th at the National AIAW Tournament. In 1976, she was a member of the Texas State Intercollegiate Championship team, winning the Lamar University Invitational and finishing third at the UT Betsy Rawls Intercollegiate behind winner Nancy Lopez. Following that remarkable season, she was named HBU's Athlete of the Year. She was the San Antonio Junior Champion in 1972 and 1973 and the Class 4A State Medalist in 1974.
